I picked up this box of fireworks on July 4, 1994 when I lived in Covington, Kentucky.

     Actually, I didn't buy the fireworks themselves, but simply asked the guy selling them on the street if I could just buy the empty box. He said I could just take it. I couldn't resist the irony. Here was a man at a celebration commemorating the birthday of the United States ... selling a box of fireworks that commemorated the rebel American Confederacy—and in Kentucky no less, which was technically a neutral State during the Civil War. Yep.

     Note: The background of this box was actually a medium blue, not black. For some reason my scanner refused to load its true color. I haven't a clue why.  If you'd like to see where I found this object, see these pictures from the PhotoAmerica section.
