I defer Today's Observation to Krista Garcia, former publisher of the zine, Scaredy Cat Stalker. Among the features on her site is the excellent section on goodies, where I have spent an inordinant amount of in the last few days, and which alerted me to the existence of Bacon Snack Bars. It was here that I also learned of the nasty rag Midwest Living which features death defying recipes such as "Reuben Casserole" and the "German Hamburger" (which of course is from rural Michigan. ML's description is quite interesting (emphasis mine): "Here's the German version of an American favorite from the Octoberfest (sic) in Frankenmuth, Michigan (13 miles southeast of Saginaw).*Slather some tangy Bavarian mustard on these meatloaflike patties."* |
